I help people do deals (and careers) better.

After 25 years in international M&A, I’m a native legalese speaker, fluent in financial jargon, and very much aware that technical mastery can only take you so far. I now work with founders, investment professionals and other ambitious humans to help them identify and address knowledge gaps, design goals that resonate fully, and create implementation strategies that work in real life.

I help people do deals (and careers) better.

My career has spanned law and finance across industries and continents, from billion-dollar privatisations in South-East Europe to small-cap tech investments in India. And what always struck me was how often deals and careers falter, or even blow up, because very bright, highly qualified and well-meaning people either don’t quite speak each other’s professional language (lawyers struggle with finance, business people’s eyes glaze over when the contracts come out) or they get tripped up by the “icky emotions stuff:” difficult conversations, tricky interpersonal dynamics, culture or personality clashes, or that old pickle of figuring out what really matters to them and why. These insights drive my work today.

Cross-Area M&A Expertise…

Part of what I do is use my background in law and finance to bridge knowledge gaps: I turn intimidating, siloed expertise (law, finance, leadership) into clear, human language and help lawyers understand company valuations, entrepreneurs figure out how best to exit their businesses, corporate bankers grasp why their clients’ M&A activity makes sense (or not!), non-lawyers stop being afraid to open 100-page contracts.

…Gets Personal

But I am also all too aware, from personal experience, that mastering the material only gets you so far. You’ll never get the best deal if you can’t deal with others, and to do that you really need to learn to deal with yourself first. People only truly shine when their goals are their own and when their systems and strategies are designed to work for their brains, not borrowed from their boss or an Internet productivity guru. Which is where the second part of my work comes in: helping entrepreneurs and professionals go beyond the technical and exploring the inter- and intra-personal blind spots that might be holding them back from getting to where they want to go.

I operate from lived experience. I know the pressure, the trade-offs, and the cost of success when it’s unbalanced. But I also am, and always will be, an enthusiastic nerd. If I’ve done it, I’ve definitely read the book as well (so you don’t have to; but if you’re curious, here’s what I’ve been reading).
